For Sculptra, how many vials are needed for that initial series?

Jul 28, 2013 Hi Dr. Irwin, I just had 2 vials of scuptra injected by a Dr. That is, a diamond provider and Top requested Physician trainer for Sculptra Aestheticâ„¢,so I am secure with the doctor. I am not secure about the fact that I had 2 vials at one treatment and was told that is all I needed.....I am 54 in August...everything I have read since I was injected yesterday talks about multiple sessions.. I also bruised a lot even though I took precautions by not taking products like aspirin..etc. I also started arnica about 3 days before? My main question has to do with the number of sessions not being the norm????Since each of us are individuals, it's difficult to say with any certainty without an in-person consult. However........ a general rule of thumb is to expect 1 vial per decade. So in the 40s about 4 vials at 2 vials per treatment that's 2 treatment sessions; at 50 about 5 vials so 2 sessions with 2 vials and a 3rd session with 1 vial, etc. Some people need a little more and some a little less depending on bone structure, percent body fat, and quality of the skin, especially the dermis (the deeper layer). Once the initial series is done, generally only 1 treatment (usually 2 vials) a year is needed to maintain. Bruising is partly the individual, partly the technique of the doctor and partly the prenumbing (the numbing creams cause temporary constriction of some blood vessels). My linking isn't working today so see under Topics, then Fillers and under that is an article on How to Prevent Bruising with Fillers. Hope this Helps! Dr. I
