Just when we it seemed that maybe, just maybe, Lady Gaga had run out of ways to shock us (and had even basically disappeared for a while), the following has happened:

Yes, that is Lady Gaga, I swear to you it is. At the 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit over the weekend, she debuted a toooootally different hair and makeup look involving dark layered hair, blond eyebrows, a new nose piercing, and minimal makeup (a touch of shimmery eyeshadow, and lip stain that has a slightly bloodlike look). The absence of her usual winged liquid eyeliner makes the biggest difference of all, I think; these photos of a low-key, grunge Gaga really did shock me! Well played, Gaga. (She's gearing up for her Artpop album release in November and her single's release next month, so what better way to get us all talking about her again?)

I can't wait to see what look she dreams up for her highly anticipated performance at next month's Video Music Awards.
