Michelle Williams Is an Inspiration for Any Woman Who's Trying to Grow Out Short Hair
Would You Ever Wear a Piece of String Around Your Head Like This Celebrity? . The starting point
Flipping the part to the other side gives some volume on top and prevents that 'bowl cut' look
Still with an extreme side part, but it's grown an inch or so
Here she shears the sides a bit but notice that the top is growing longer. It looks edgy and 'short' this way, but it's still growing
Some volume at the crown and a head band totally distracts from the in-between length
In this still from the Louis Vuitton ad you can see how much her sides have grown. Product is a must
Slicking hair back with some pomade is a great night out trick
This is what Michelle looked like with long hair way back in 2005 previous next Back in February Michelle Williams announced that she was growing out her signature pixie cut, and I’ve been watching with great interest ever since then. See, I too am a short-haired girl, and I can’t bear the thought of growing it out, even though Kate Middleton’s hairstylist told me I should in order to “soften” it a bit.
But I have a new sense of resolve because this week Louis Vuitton released a new ad featuring the actress. I couldn’t stop staring at it because her hair (and her whole beauty look, really) looks SO. GOOD.

I thought we could take a look at the evolution of Michelle’s grow-out because she uses a few clever styling tricks along the way to disguise all the weird lengths it’s going through. This includes cutting it occasionally—in the past when I’ve grown out short hair, I’ve had to cut parts shorter so it doesn’t turn into the dreaded bowl cut. It's a misconception that you shouldn't get cuts while you're growing out—it you don't keep it cut into a style at each phase it's going to be a mess.

If you have short hair, does Michelle make you want to grow it out? She makes it look easy. Tell me your hair grow-out horror stories!
